The expression "chamber jazz" usually designates a kind of jazz music executed by small, acoustic-based constellations to whom mutual understanding and interplay are the most important ingredients. The chamber jazz group that has attracted most attention ever in Sweden is no doubt the elegant and high-class Trio Con Tromba. The trio consisted of trumpeter Jan Allan, pianist Bengt Hallberg and bassist Georg Riedel, three of Sweden´s greatest jazz musicians of all time.
This box contains four cd´s with music by Trio Con Tromba that has never been obtainable on records until now. In most cases it is taken from radio broadcasts. The sound quality is without exception excellent, considering that the recordings were made approximately thirty years ago.
On CD 1 you will hear Trio Con Tromba together with world renowned Uppsala Chamber Soloists. CD 2 contains exclusively compositions by Georg Riedel and CD 3 is entirely devoted to Bengt´s music. CD 4, finally, gives us lots of possibilities to hear Trio Con Tromba´s highly individual and elegant interpretations of a bouquet of immortal jazz standards, from Sonny Rollins´ "Valse Hot" to John Lewis´ "Django".
